Why learn Welsh?
Whether you were born here or moved here, if you're in Wales, Cymraeg is a part of you.

Most countries have their own language to cherish, and Welsh is one of the oldest in Europe. But that's not why we want you to learn. We want you to learn because it's modern, relevant and part of your future in Wales.

More importantly, we want you to learn because it will help you in all aspects of your life. Each year 20,000 adults now have a go and start to learn Welsh.

Why do they do it? We think it's because of the challenge and the rewards of learning something new. And, of course, because they find it great fun.

Learning Welsh to get on in work
The Welsh language is a valued skill in the business world, especially within the public sector, where services need to be provided bilingually.

Many private companies also realise that providing their service through the medium of Welsh can give them that all important competitive edge.

To provide this service they need Welsh speakers, a point recognised by the hundreds of people who enroll on a Welsh course each year to improve their job prospects by learning Welsh for work!

If you.re interested, you could even ask your employer to hold Welsh lessons in your place of work.

Learning Welsh with the family
Is your child coming back from school and talking to you in a new language? Would you like to give as good as you get? You'll have the opportunity to perfect your response through learning Welsh yourself. You could also have the opportunity to learn together and perhaps help them with their homework (and vice versa).

You could even learn while your child is at school or nursery. You'll find Welsh for Adults really family friendly, so you should be able to find a course which suits your busy family timetable.

Learning Welsh and proud of it
Are you passionately Welsh but never had the opportunity to learn Welsh at school? Or have you moved to Wales and want to experience that extra bit of Welsh culture?

Many learners do so because they feel it will help them contribute to their local community, and they've found that it can add a new dimension to their social lives.

Learning Welsh for the challenge
Some choose to learn Welsh simply because they love a challenge. You'll certainly get that! You'll be asking your mouth to create new sounds and shapes, and it will need plenty of time and patience before you get it right. But it's worth it.
